This is the one true Bible。 Both Testaments, easy to read, easier to live。 God bless you everyone!

I recommend everyone whether you believe or not to read the Bible at least once… and if that seems like too much just start with Romans。 Personally I find the Bible to have an answer to any and all life’s questions。

I was very eager to read what seems to be the best international version of the Bible。 That wasn’t an easy feat and took me a good 4 months of very limited daily reading。 I would give this edition a 5/5 in terms of the scientific effort of translating various archaic languages and converting various versions and books into plain language that can easily be followed today。 My two stars are more on Bible as a book, as such。 I was quite disappointed about the length of the book and the amount of re I was very eager to read what seems to be the best international version of the Bible。 That wasn’t an easy feat and took me a good 4 months of very limited daily reading。 I would give this edition a 5/5 in terms of the scientific effort of translating various archaic languages and converting various versions and books into plain language that can easily be followed today。 My two stars are more on Bible as a book, as such。 I was quite disappointed about the length of the book and the amount of repetition in it (although I fully understand the purpose behind the latter mechanic)。 I am not sure why we need to have identical sections in order to reach a book of nearly 1,300 pages, but the again that serves a certain purpose。 Linguistically it is not a masterpiece either。 Quite disheartening to see God presented so revengeful。 I did remember this image of his from my childhood, but the extent to which his anger and micro-management goes, doesn’t make him a lovable figure。 There are elements of true genocide instructed, which are shocking。 In parallel, there are repulsive notions and concepts around the position of woman in society; let alone those references to homosexual individuals and behaviours。 Again, that’s almost certainly a reflection of those conservative and patriarchic societies where the authors are coming from, but they still have to be judged as outcomes of the writings within the Bible。 Rather disappointing the amount of fiction in terms of historical references, too, as I was hoping to identify historical facts by reading the Bible。 The biggest win for me is how the Bible intrigued me to understand the geopolitical battle in the broader land of Israel and Middle East (and even beyond!) from the ancient times until now。 I would give this element of the book a 5/5。 All in all, I am glad that I read the Bible。 It was a one-in-a-lifetime experience that I always wanted to embark on。 There are certainly plenty of ethical learnings that we can get from it, particularly on our demeanour towards are fellow human beings。 However, it is not a book that I would say that we all need to read - or one that I would keep in my bookshelf。 A 5/10。 。。。more

And he said “roaming the earth” JOB 1:7 。 The villain is real。 There was/is so much to love, so many stories, just wow。 I read this book in it’s entirety around the year 2000This book was breathtaking and highly recommended ✨ 。。。more

I love to read the Bible, but it's not always easy, especially the old testament。 But a chronological bible is so great for keeping things straight。 This version has explanations about what is about to happen in a casual manner, so that when you read the actual bible text it reads smoothly。 I think no one should have this on their "want to read" list。 Now is the time, now is the day of salvation。 I love to read the Bible, but it's not always easy, especially the old testament。 But a chronological bible is so great for keeping things straight。 This version has explanations about what is about to happen in a casual manner, so that when you read the actual bible text it reads smoothly。 I think no one should have this on their "want to read" list。 Now is the time, now is the day of salvation。 。。。more

I absolutely loved reading the Bible in chronological order! There are so many details in the old and new testament that I don't think I would have noticed otherwise。 I highly recommend reading the Bible this way if you've never done it。 I also find it really helpful to have a checklist of daily readings, but I've learned not to let getting behind bother me。 I read less some days, and more on others。 I read the ESV version of the Bible and I used my Bible app as a checklist。 I absolutely loved reading the Bible in chronological order! Best book ever written-- No questions asked。

I chose to follow a lesson plan to read the Bible in chronological order (not from cover-to-cover)。 Although the intent was to read it in one year, it actually took me 18-months。 But I chose to take my time and fully contemplate what I was reading。 There is no question, contemplation was a major effect of this 2nd time through this amazing offering。 You'll have questions but you'll also have answers。 It's your choice what you do with these reflections and answers。 I chose to follow a lesson plan to read the Bible in chronological order (not from cover-to-cover)。 Although the intent was to read it in one year, it actually took me 18-months。 But I chose to take my time and fully contemplate what I was reading。 There is no question, contemplation was a major effect of this 2nd time through this amazing offering。 You'll have questions but you'll also have answers。 It's your choice what you do with these reflections and answers。 。。。more

It’s really kinda shitty that the author goes on and on about “don’t kill people” then literally kills the main character。 Also what’s with all the homophobia?

Super good。 Protagonist didn’t show up until the second half, but first half was still pretty awesome。 Ending was also probably the best ending of a story ever written。 Will be reading again

NIV is very readable。

A complete waste of time。 All the characters are so whiny and everyone dies at the end anyway。

I like the Bible。 I do not like the NIV translation of the Bible。 This website (note mine) explains why: https://isthatinthebible。wordpress。co。。。Try the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) instead。 I like the Bible。 I do not like the NIV translation of the Bible。 This website (note mine) explains why: https://isthatinthebible。wordpress。co。。。Try the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) instead。 。。。more

When I noticed that David Suchet had an audio version of the Holy Scriptures available I thought it would be fun to hear them read from the man who played Poirot on that popular, British mystery series。 He did a good job。 His voice sounded deep and soothing to my ears and his communication skills as a professional actor shined through。 On a minor note, he did mispronounced a few names here and there, including Colossians。 But then again, who of us hasn't mispronounced names from the bible?I grew When I noticed that David Suchet had an audio version of the Holy Scriptures available I thought it would be fun to hear them read from the man who played Poirot on that popular, British mystery series。 He did a good job。 His voice sounded deep and soothing to my ears and his communication skills as a professional actor shined through。 On a minor note, he did mispronounced a few names here and there, including Colossians。 But then again, who of us hasn't mispronounced names from the bible?I grew up on the NIV version but have spent the last twenty or so years reading mostly from the ESV and NASB。 So, spending this time back in the NIV reminded me of my childhood。 It also made me realize that the ESV is my favorite。 。。。more

This Bible is great to read。 It shows you where the prophets fit in the history books of the Bible。 You can also see how the Gospels coincide。 It also shows you when Paul wrote his letters in Acts。

This is my second round of doing this reading plan in a much more condensed format。 For any person that is looking for a bible reading plan that allows you to read through the course of a book I highly recommend this bible。 I am one who likes to journal and I use "Microsoft One-Note" as my platform having a systemic plan for reading is very helpful! This copy of the bible is called The Bible in a Year and is structured so that you can read a section of the Old Testament, a section of the New Testament, and a section of Proverbs or Psalms every day for a year。 As perhaps the most influential book of all time, I have always been curious about the Bible and on 1st January 2020, I took up the challenge。 Today, two years, six months and fifteen days later, I finally finished it。。。 which should already tell you what my experience of it was like。H This copy of the bible is called The Bible in a Year and is structured so that you can read a section of the Old Testament, a section of the New Testament, and a section of Proverbs or Psalms every day for a year。 As perhaps the most influential book of all time, I have always been curious about the Bible and on 1st January 2020, I took up the challenge。 Today, two years, six months and fifteen days later, I finally finished it。。。 which should already tell you what my experience of it was like。Had I known how long it would take me I would have taken notes and probably would have wound up writing an essay on the many thoughts I had while reading it, but as I didn't, I'll have to try and summarise from memories stretched out over a long time。I won't touch upon religion or morality, I just want to talk about the actual experience of reading the Bible。。。 which was horrible。The Bible is very long and, generally, very dull。 The reason the well-known biblical stories are well-known is because they stand out from everything else。 Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, Joseph, Moses, Saul and David, and of course, the life of Jesus - you've probably already heard these stories and they are, by and large, the only parts worth hearing。I really cannot stress to this enough。 It is unbelievably repetitive。 I could summarise almost the entire Old Testament with the following: People sin and worship false idols, God grows angry and punishes them, the people beg forgiveness, God forgives them, repeat。 For pages and pages at a time, it will just be that on a loop。 The New Testament doesn't suffer from this as badly, though it does begin with four accounts of the same man's life。The rest of the Old Testament, aside from the aforementioned famous stories, is long monologues that manage to stretch the word count on a very simple premise like you wouldn't believe; monotonous lists of names or numbers of tribes and descendants; and dreary, meticulous measurements of buildings。 Whereas the rest of the New Testament is a series of lectures on how to be a good Christian which is at least more relevant, if still rather tedious to make your way through。I think what struck me most about the whole thing is just how little it ultimately has to say for such a huge book。 I would definitely recommend the New Testament over the old - it's much shorter for one and while it is hardly stimulating for much of it, it is at least far less tedious and seems to fulfil the role of a holy book much better: more interested in imparting spiritual guidance than giving the world's most tiresome history lesson。A smarter person would have given up a couple of months in after he realised what kind of experience he was about to endure。 Unfortunately, I can be quite stubborn about finishing books, and I can be a definite sucker for the Sunk Cost Fallacy。 I would read it daily until I inevitably slipped and it sat there unopened for a month or two, then I would feel guilty and decide to catch up by not reading another book until I had reached a certain point, which just slowed down my reading output altogether。 I battled on and off with it like this past one Christmas and then past another until I finally realised in Spring of this year that if I read it daily I could finish it in time for my birthday。。。 I still came in just under a month late。But at last, the millstone has been lifted。 No longer do I need to feel guilty, no longer do I have to put another book aside in favour of this one。 One pandemic, two Christmases, three birthdays and four jobs; it's been with me。 Finally I can move on with the definite knowledge that I have read the Bible。And I will finish with my favourite passage: 2 Kings 2:23-2423 Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” 24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD。 Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number。 。。。more
